How Yoga can Help Children with Disabilities

How can yogabugs help children with learning difficulties?

Learning difficulties and disabilities can manifest in children in a wide variety of ways, including behavioural challenges and additional communication needs.

Parents and schools have communicated to us that following involvement in our yoga sessions, children with additional needs have often found themselves calmer, more able to focus in lessons and more positive about achieving their goals.

However, regardless of this effort, they may not understand school assignments & as a result they do not achieve their goals. Learning difficulties can affect at least 1 in 10 school children.

By introducing yoga into the lives of children who have special educational needs, you will focus their concentration, while positive reinforcement will help to build their self-esteem and confidence. Physiologically, yoga will help develop low muscle tone and reduce spasm in areas of the body with high muscle tone. It will increase flexibility which will, in turn, give children a clearer understanding of their body and how it can work for them. Children will also have a clearer understanding of where they are in space (proprioception) and of their body parts, and where they are in relation to each other.

Our inclusive approach ensures that disabled children can enjoy the holistic benefits that yoga offers.
